Why We Shouldn't Focus on Race: Lessons from Queen Charlotte

Hello and welcome back to Think Like Queenie! The channel that empowers women to lead their best lives. Recently, I created a video about the Netflix series based on Queen Charlotte, a complex and fascinating woman who made a significant impact on British history. However, there were a lot of comments from people focusing on her race - some say she wasn't black and others say she was. Personally, I don't think it matters one way or another. What matters most is that we remember Queen Charlotte as a strong and influential woman who was a role model for women everywhere. Queen Charlotte's ancestry is a matter of debate, and there is some evidence to suggest that she may have had African ancestry. However, there is also evidence to suggest that she was white. Ultimately, it's up to each individual to decide how they identify Queen Charlotte.

But it is this reason, that prompted me to create today's video. I want to talk about something that I think is really important: the idea that we shouldn't focus on people being of the white race or black race, but instead, we should focus on the fact that we're all of the human race. Queen Charlotte was a reminder of this, and she is an inspiration to us all.

As a society, we tend to place a lot of emphasis on race. We use it to categorize people, to make assumptions about them, and to draw lines between different groups. But the truth is, the concept of race is created and defined by society rather than being based on any scientific or biological evidence. It's not based in biology or science. We're all part of the same species: Homo sapiens.

When we focus on race, we can end up sustaining harmful stereotypes and prejudices. We might assume that people of a certain race are more likely to be good at something, or more likely to act a certain way. But these assumptions are often based on nothing more than cultural conditioning and biased thinking.

The reality is that people of all races are capable of amazing things. We've seen this time and time again throughout history, from people like Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther King Jr. to figures like Malala Yousafzai and Greta Thunberg. These individuals have shown us that race is not a determining factor in what we can achieve.

So, what can we do to shift our focus away from race and toward our common humanity? Well, I think the first step is to start by recognizing that we all have biases, and that we've all been conditioned by our cultures and environments to see the world in certain ways. By acknowledging this, we can start to challenge our assumptions and begin to see people as individuals rather than as representatives of a particular race.

Another important step is to seek out opportunities to connect with people from different backgrounds. This might mean traveling to new places, attending cultural events, or simply striking up a conversation with someone who doesn't look like you. By doing this, we can break down the walls that divide us and build bridges of understanding and empathy.

In today's world, it is more important than ever to focus on the human race instead of race. We are all human beings, and we are all equal. We should focus on our shared humanity, rather than our differences. Queen Charlotte was a reminder of this, and she is an inspiration to us all. When we get caught up in debates about race, we can lose sight of the things that really matter - our shared experiences, our common goals, and our shared humanity. By focusing on these things, we can build a better world for everyone.
